On March 25, 2026, the National Cyber Security Authority joined the University of Global Health Equity’s Lunch and Learn program to raise awareness on Rwanda’s Personal Data Protection and Privacy Law. The session drew over 70 faculty members specializing in healthcare education.
Together, they explored the duties of the Data Protection Office, the responsibilities of Data Protection Officers, categories of sensitive personal data, and lawful bases for processing. The discussions highlighted the unique challenges of protecting data in the health sector.
The event concluded with a lively Q&A on compliance in health facilities and research projects, underscoring the urgent need to safeguard personal data and strengthen privacy culture in Rwanda’s healthcare system.
