Today, more than 40 IT staff from public hospitals across Rwanda gathered at the Ministry of Health headquarters for a specialized training session from the Data Protection & Privacy Office (DPO), on personal data protection and privacy law. The event aimed to strengthen their understanding of Rwanda’s legal framework for handling sensitive health data and to promote best practices in safeguarding patient information.
DPO staff led the session, covering key data protection principles, legal grounds for processing personal data, and IT staff responsibilities. The training stressed secure data handling, transparency, and accountability to help hospitals strengthen privacy practices.
