DPO engages stakeholders to shape Rwanda’s Data Privacy regulations

Today, the Data Protection & Privacy Office convened a consultation workshop on the draft regulations under Rwanda’s Data Protection and Privacy Law. The session brought together representatives from key institutions including the Ministry of Justice, the National Bank of Rwanda, RURA, Rwanda FDA, and the Rwanda Law Reform Commission.

Participants contributed valuable technical insights aimed at strengthening compliance and ensuring effective implementation of the law. The workshop provided a platform for professional dialogue, clarifications, and exchange of perspectives on registration requirements and misconduct provisions.

By engaging stakeholders directly, the DPO is reinforcing Rwanda’s commitment to safeguarding personal data and building a trusted digital ecosystem. The feedback gathered will inform the refinement of draft regulations and support their practical operationalization within the data protection framework.
