To mark the International Day of Data Privacy, we brought together over 300 Data Protection Officers from diverse organizations for a webinar themed “Compliance with Rwanda’s Data Protection and Privacy Law is Beyond Registration, It’s a Continuous Journey.”
The discussion emphasized that while registration with the National Cyber Security Authority is an important first step, true compliance goes much further. It requires ongoing accountability, privacy by design, transparency and respect for data subject rights.
We reminded participants that building a culture of compliance not only strengthens trust, reputation, and resilience but also protects organizations from sanctions, penalties, and reputational harm. Compliance is not a one-time act but a continuous responsibility that must be embedded into everyday practices.
