The DPO conducted week‑long training for Data Protection Officers

From 16 to 19 June, the Data Protection and Privacy Office (DPO) conducted a week‑long training for Data Protection Officers (DPOs) from public institutions at the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda. The program was designed to strengthen Rwanda’s capacity to enforce its Personal Data Protection and Privacy Law.

The sessions covered data subject rights, complaint handling, technical and organizational measures and data breach investigation. Through case studies and practical exercises, participants gained hands‑on experience in applying these principles to real‑world scenarios.

Attended by approximately 70 participants, the training underscored Rwanda’s commitment to building a strong data protection culture. By equipping institutions with the right tools and knowledge, the program ensures personal data is handled responsibly, reinforcing trust in Rwanda’s digital ecosystem.
