The Data Protection Office (DPO) is committed to promoting a culture of data protection and privacy in Rwanda. To achieve this, we actively carry out awareness-raising initiatives
through various platforms and channels, ensuring that both individuals and organizations understand their rights and responsibilities regarding personal data.
Our efforts include ongoing social media campaigns to educate the public on the importance of data protection and privacy rights. We also organize physical awareness sessions,
targeting a wide range of stakeholders, including individuals, businesses, and public institutions. These initiatives aim to empower Data Subjects to exercise their rights and support organizations in implementing robust data protection measures.
On the 31st of March, the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA) launched the Data Protection Office, which will lead the implementation of law Nº 058/2021 of 13/10/2021 relating to the protection of personal data and privacy.
Individuals and organizations affected by the law on personal data protection and privacy may be curious to understand the mission of the DPO and specific functions that will provide guidance and support to those in need of reaching compliance.
